Museum Music and Mime

A fun music and signing group for babies and toddlers at Poole Museum.Sing nursery rhymes, make music and learn simple signs for everyday communication. Suitable for babies and toddlers (0-3 years old)

Every Friday (term time only)  

Booking is not essential, but spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. FREE

Are you living with memory loss or dementia? 

Join this welcoming group for a social afternoon of reminiscence, friendship and support. Poole Museum is delighted to be working in association with Prama to run this weekly club which is led by a specialist reminiscence facilitator. Sessions take place in the Community Room, Old Rope Walk, Hamworthy.
Advance booking essential. £2 per week, payable on the day.

Creative Ways to Wellbeing Course

A creative course specially designed for people experiencing common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. 


The course will be based around the Five Ways to Wellbeing; using art to help you Connect, Learn, Take Notice, Give and Be Active. 

If you face mental health challenges, enjoy art and creative activities and are keen to improve your wellbeing, this course could be for you. 

Monday afternoons, 1.30pm - 3.30pm. Booking essential.

Victoria and Albert Q&A with Lord and Lady Fellowes

Join Poole Museum Foundation for an afternoon of Q&A with Lord and Lady Fellowes. 


Set in the historic Guildhall Tavern, Julian Fellowes, acclaimed writer of Downton Abbey and The Young Victoria, will share his in-depth knowledge of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert before taking a short walk to Poole Museum for the private view of the Victoria & Albert: Our Lives in Watercolour exhibition.

Dementia-friendly Exhibition Tour of Victoria & Albert: Our Lives in Watercolour

A chance to view and discuss the paintings in Poole Museum’s temporary exhibition Victoria & Albert: Our Lives in Watercolour. The exhibition takes a deeper look into public and private lives of the royal couple. The collection explores themes of family life, foreign travel and the spectacle of the British court.

This is an interactive session for those living with dementia and their carers. No previous experience or knowledge of art is required. A hot drink and cake will be provided in the café at the end of the session (included in entrance price).

The Dorset Art Prize celebrates and rewards excellence in art from across the county of Dorset. 

The Prize, established in 2014, hosted by Bournemouth and Poole College, offers both emerging and established artists the opportunity to showcase their work to a wider audience. Local young artists submitted their artwork inspired by the theme, ‘reflection’. 

A selection of work is on display around Poole Museum. Free entry.

To celebrate Light Up Poole 2020, Poole Museum has teamed up with Mathmos to create a range of engaging activities. 

Come and take a selfie at our ‘Mathmos Lava Lamp Window’ installation, enjoy swirling projections and follow the trail around the museum to our retro lava lounge for a chill out with a difference.
